Govt releases 50pc of recruiting agencies’ security deposits
Amid the coronavirus outbreak, the government on Tuesday decided to release 50 per cent of the security deposit paid by recruiting agencies, to help them pay wages and office rent, reports UNB.
The security money will be provided on condition of redepositing that within one year, following a request from Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA).
The expatriates' welfare and overseas employment ministry issued a circular in this regard on humanitarian ground on Tuesday.
The ministry also asked the director general of Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) to take necessary steps in this regard.
The recruiting agencies concerned will have to apply to BMET for withdrawing half of their security money and they have to provide a bond of repaying the money within one year, said a press release.
If any agency fails to repay the money within the scheduled time, their license will be scrapped and the security money will be revoked, it said.
