Moyeen Khan gets Local Govt, Partho Info, Millat Civil Aviation, Saching Prue CHT Affairs, two state ministers for Foreign Affairs
The portfolios of the four newly sworn-in ministers and two state ministers have been allocated. At the same time, the portfolio of another minister has also been changed.
New President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir administered the oath to four ministers and two state ministers at Bangabhaban on Friday evening. First, Mirza Fakhrul Islam took oath as president. He then administered the oath to the new ministers and state ministers.
The four new ministers who took oath are Abdul Moyeen Khan, Rashiduzzaman Millat, Saching Prue Jeri and Andaleev Rahman Partho. Of them, Rashiduzzaman Millat had been serving as state minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism. The two new state ministers are Humayun Kabir (technocrat) and Mohammad Shamim Kaiser (Lincoln).
A high-level source at the Cabinet Division told Prothom Alo at night that the portfolios of the new ministers and state ministers had been allocated. A gazette notification will be issued shortly.
As Mirza Fakhrul Islam became president, Abdul Moyeen Khan has been given charge of the vacant Ministry of Local Government. Rashiduzzaman Millat, who took oath as a minister after serving as a state minister, has become the minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism. Afroza Khanam (Rita), who was the minister of this ministry, has been made minister for Food.
Saching Prue Jeri, a member of parliament from Bandarban, has been made minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs. After the BNP government took office, Dipen Dewan was given charge of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs. However, he resigned after three months. Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin is currently serving as state minister for the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs.
Andaleev Rahman Partho, chairman of the BJP who took oath as a new minister, has been given charge of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Zahir Uddin Swapon, who had been serving as minister for the Information Ministry, has been made an adviser to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Shamim Kaiser has been given charge as state minister for the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain (Kaykobad) is the minister of this ministry.
New State Minister Humayun Kabir has been given charge as state minister for Foreign Affairs. Shama Obaed Islam, who was already serving as state minister for this ministry, will also remain in her previous post.
This means two state ministers will serve in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Khalilur Rahman is serving as the minister for Foreign Affairs.
