Special cattle trains ahead of Eid-ul-Azha

Railways ministry has decided to launch special cattle trains to transport sacrificial animals to Dhaka from the southern and northern parts of the country ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

Concerned station masters have been requested to submit the demand by contacting the ministry, said a press release.

A pair of trains will be launched in Khulna-Dhaka-Khulna route and a pair will be launched in Chapainawabganj-Dhaka-Chapainawabganj route, the press release added.

The Khulna-Dhaka-Khulna route cattle train will run from Khulna to Jessore, Mobarakganj, Kotchandpur, Chuadanga, Alamdanga, Poradaha, Ishwardi, Joydevpur, Dhirashram, Tongi and Tejgaon, and will reach Dhaka at 3:00am.

The train on Chapainawabganj-Dhaka-Chapainawabganj route will leave Chapainawabganj at 4:30pm, stop at Amnura Bypass, Kakonhat, Rajshahi, Harian, Ullapara, Joydebpur, Dhirashram, Tongi and Tejgaon, and will reach Dhaka at 3:45am.

The initiatives have been taken to transport animals at very low cost to encourage marginal farmers and make sacrificial animals easily accessible to the consumers, according to the release.

It will cost only Tk 20 per kilometre to transport the sacrificial animals.
