HC rejects ex-councillor Razib's bail petition

The High Court (HC) on Monday rejected the bail petition filed by former ward councillor Tarekuzzaman Razib in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), reports UNB.

A virtual bench of justice Nazrul Islam Talukdar passed the order and adjourned the bail petition until the submission of investigation report of the case.

Lawyer M Ferdous Al Basir stood for Razib while lawyer Shahin Ahmed moved for ACC and attorney general Mahbubey Alam, deputy attorney general AKM Amin Uddin represented the state.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) filed the case last year against the ex-councillor of ward-33 of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on charge of accumulating illegal wealth worth Tk 251,635,905.

Earlier on 6 February, Dhaka Special Judges Court rejected Razib's bail plea who was arrested on 19 October, during anti-casino drive.
