Former communications minister Syed Abul Hossain no more
Former communications minister and freedom fighter Syed Abul Hossain passed away while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital in the small hours of Wednesday.
He was 72.
Abul Hossain breathed his last at the United Hospital at 2:00 am, confirmed his personal assistant Samir Chandra Dey.
Syed Abul Hossain left his wife Khawaza Nargis, two daughters Syeda Rubaiyat Hossain and Syeda Iffat Hossain and many well-wishers to mourn his death.
Samir Chandra Dey said Syed Abul Hossain’s daughters are abroad now. Decision will be taken about his burial once they arrive in the country.
Syed Abul Hossain was elected as an MP of Awami League from Madaripur-3 constituency in 1991. He was elected an MP three more times later.
He was made the communications minister from 2009 to 2012.
He was born in Madaripur in 1951.
