Chattogram COVID-19 cases cross 11,000

The number of detected novel coronavirus cases in Chattogram crossed 11,000 as 259 more new patients were reported positive after testing 1,265 samples at six laboratories in the district in the last 24 hours.

“The total numbers of COVID-19 patients are now stand at 11,032 only in Chattogram district till today,” civil surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told news agency BSS on Thursday.

Of the newly detected patients, 176 are the residents of the port city and the rest 83 are residents of different upazilas of the district.

Sheikh Fazle Rabbi also said that with today’s six deaths, the number of death toll in the district reached 220.

Of the total COVID-19 patients, 7,679 are the residents of the port city and the rest 3,353 are residents of different upazilas of the district, he added.

A total of 1329 persons were released from the hospital after recovery from the disease till today, he said.

Rabbi further said that 38 new patients were diagnosed with the coronavirus at BITID, Chattogram after testing 276 samples in the last 24 hours.

A total of 39 new patients were diagnosed with the coronavirus at Chattogram University after testing 170 samples in that time.

Forty-two more new COVID-19 cases were identified at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) after testing 237 samples during the same period.

Besides, 28 more new COVID-19 cases were identified at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Science University (CVASU) after testing 206 samples, the civil surgeon said.

On the other hand, 74 more people tested coronavirus positive at Private Chevron Lab, Chattogram after testing 244 samples while 38 more patients were identified at city’s Imperial Hospital after testing 132 samples during the same period.
