COVID-19 cases exceed 2,700 mark in Rangpur division

The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases exceeded the 2,700 mark as 58 more new patients were reported positive after testing their samples in Rangpur division on Monday, reports BSS.

“The total number of COVID-19 patients now stands at 2,714 in all eight districts of the division,” focal person of COVID-19 and assistant director (Health) for Rangpur division ZA Siddiqui told BSS on Tuesday.

Talking to BSS, divisional director (Health) Amin Ahmed Khan said the common people should become more aware of the severity of COVID-19 virus as its limited scale community transmission continues at fewer places in the division.

Meanwhile, with the healing of 49 more COPVID-19 infected people on Friday, the total number of recovered patients rose to 1,579 now with the recovery rate of 58.17 per cent in the division.

The 1,579 recovered COVID-19 patients include 534 of Rangpur, 109 of Panchagarh, 243 of Nilphamari, 52 of Lalmonirhat, 78 of Kurigram, 134 of Thakurgaon, 319 of Dinajpur and 110 of Gaibandha districts.
