COVID-19 in Khulna: Total 36 deaths as cases reach 2,684
With detection of 151 new more positive cases in last 24 hours on 23 June, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients in Khulna division reached 2,684, BSS quoted a daily report to say on Tuesday.
The report also said a total of 36 persons died of COVID -19 with two more deaths recorded in the same period.
“We received 278 samples in Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours till this noon of which 151 were tested COVID-19 positive,” BSS quoted Rasheda Sultana, divisional director of health services, as saying .
Of the total new positive cases, 75 were detected in Khulna district alone , taking its total number of the reported cases to 1,148, the highest number in all ten districts in the division.
The newly detected COVID-19 patients include 23 in Jashore, 11 in Kushtia, nine in Chuadanga, eight in Magura, six each in Bagerhat and Narail, five each in Satkhira and Meherpur, and three in Jhenaidah districts in the division.
Health officials said the district-wise total cases are 1,148 in Khulna, 118 in Bagerhat, 106 in Satkhira, 371 in Jashore, 132 in Jhenaidah, 72 in Magura, 106 in Narail, 395 in Kushtia, 189 in Chuadanga and 47 in Meherpur.
Rasheda said the whereabouts of the persons, who came in contact with infected patients, were also brought to notice and they were asked to remain in home isolation.
She added that utmost quarantine, isolation and testing were stressed as important means of containing community transmission.
Meanwhile, a total of 674 have cured from the infection as 43 more people were discharged from the dedicated hospitals in all 10 districts.
She said the average recovery rate is 25.11 per cent while fatality rate 1.34 per cent in the division.
“Among the total 2,684 infected, 328 are undergoing treatment in isolation units of different hospitals, 674 have recovered and 36 died while the rest are undergoing treatment”, she said.
As two more death was reported in last 24 hours till Tuesday noon, the total number of fatalities are 13 in Khulna, five in Narail, four each in Kustia and Meherpur, two each in Bagerhat, Jashore, Jhenaidah, Magura and Chuadanga districts.
