Debhata upazila chairman dies of COVID-19

Freedom fighter Abdul Gani, the upazila chairman of Debhata,died of COVID-19 in a Satkhira hospital on Friday, reports UNB.

He was 70.

His son Abdur Razzak said Abdul Gani died at 3:30am.

He tested positive for COVID-19 and was taking treatment in home quarantine, Razzak said.

On 3 August, he was shifted to a specialised hospital in Dhaka as his condition deteriorated.

He was later put on life-support.

Gani was a former commander of Debhata Muktijodhha Sangsad and leader of Awami League's district unit.
