First coronavirus death reported in Khulna

A man who died with fever, cough and breathing problems on the way to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) on Tuesday morning has been found positive for coronavirus, reports news agency UNB.

Nur Alam, 43, a mobile mechanic and resident of Rajapur village in Rupsha upazila, was taken to the KMCH around 8:45am where he was declared dead, said Abdul Ahad, principal of KMC.

This is the first coronavirus death in the district, he added.

So far, they have tested 191 samples at the KMCH lab and found only Nur Alam positive for coronavirus, said Ashrafur Rahman, medical officer at the KMCH emergency unit.

Meanwhile, the local administration put 20 houses under lockdown at Rajapur village.
