209 prisoners flee from Kashimpur jail, 6 including 3 militants killed
A total of 209 prisoners have fled after taking prison guards hostage during a demonstration in Kashimpur High Security Jail in Gazipur.
Prison guards opened fire to prevent the flight of the prisoners on Tuesday afternoon, killing six people including three militants.
Jail super Subrata Kumar Bala, speaking to Prothom Alo, said a section of militants and prisoners started a demonstration revolt demanding release at around 12:00pm on Tuesday. At the time, prisoners tried to flee. The prison guards failed to control them. Later, when the message was conveyed, The army with helicopters reached the jail.
Prison guards opened fire for their security, killing six inmates. At the time 209 prisoners fled.
Bodies were sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College in Gazipur.
