Two local firearms, arms making equipment and three dredger machines have been recovered from a remote hill area in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhiya upazila.

A joint team of upazila administration, forest department and police recovered these at a two and half hours long raid at a Thaingkhali Telkhola area on Friday afternoon.

Ukhiya upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Imran Hossain told Prothom Alo that the arms were recovered from a tunnel of abandoned house.

Ukhiya forest department’s range officer Gazi Shafiul Alam said none was arrested over the incident.

A process is on to file a case against a person named Sheikh Rasel over the recovery of arms, he added.
