Primary school headmaster dies of COVID-19 in Bagerhat

The headmaster of Maskata Government Primary School died of coronavirus at his residence at Maskata village in Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat early Friday, UNB reports.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Abdul Aziz, 55.

Ashim Kumar, upazila health officer, said Aziz had tested positive on 19 July and was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Khulna.

Recently, he came to his village home without making full recovery and had been taking treatment at home.

Samples will be collected from the family members of the deceased, the doctor said.

Civil surgeon AKM Humayun Kabir, said 26 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the district till Friday morning, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 515.

Twelve people have died so far of COVID-19 in the district while 301 people recovered.

The health authorities have so far confirmed 2,16,110 coronavirus cases until Thursday.

So far, 2,801 people have died of COVID-19 in the country.
