Rangpur records 119 positive coronavirus cases in a day

The record number of 119 more people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) in a day since the beginning after testing their samples on Wednesday at the two laboratories in Rangpur division, reports BSS.

Health officials said the 119 new infected cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples collected from all eight districts in the division at the laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur Wednesday.

Of them, 72 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory today at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The new 72 patients include 34 of Rangpur, 12 of Gaibandha, 10 of Lalmonirhat and 16 of Kurigram districts,” chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and principal of RpMC professor AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, 47 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 47 new COVID-19 patients include 35 of Dinajpur, nine of Panchagarh and three of Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Shibesh Sarker told BSS after completing the testing process at 6:50 pm.

Talking to BSS, focal person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients jumped to 4,417 as 119 new cases were reported from across the division today.
