Rickshaw-puller hospitalised in Kushtia hospital’s isolation ward

A rickshaw-puller was kept at the isolation ward of Kushtia General Hospital on Friday after he went there for treatment with fever, cough and breathing complications.

Family members took the 45-year-old man to the hospital around 2:00pm, said Tapas Kumar Sarkar, resident medical officer at the hospital.

He said the man has been showing such symptoms for the last three days and on Thursday his breathing complications worsened.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) has been informed about this, Kushtia civil surgeon HM Anwarul Islam said, adding that soon his samples will be sent to the IEDCR.

About keeping family members of the hospitalised man in home-quarantine, Sadar upazila nirbahi officer Jubayer Hossain said he is not informed yet about the incident.

Bangladesh on Friday confirmed the detection of five more new coronavirus patients, raising the total number of such cases in the country to 61.

The country has so far confirmed six deaths from coronavirus while 26 others have already made recovery.

The global death toll from coronavirus jumped to 54,231 as of Friday evening. It has so far infected 1,030,664people around the world, according to worldometer.
