Senior physician dies at Corona Unit

A physician of Barishal General Hospital suffering from cold, fever and breathing problems died at the Corona Unit of Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital on Friday afternoon, barely 24 hours after getting admitted.

The deceased was Md Emdadullah Khan, 58, of Bauphal upazila in Patuakhali. He left behind his wife, herself a physician, two sons and a daughter.

Khan was admitted to the Corona Unit of Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital on Thursday, said residential medical officer Delowar Hossain.

He was a senior consultant at the Dermatology department of Barishal General Hospital.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh on Friday recorded 45 deaths from coronavirus in the span of 24 hours, raising the death toll to 1,388.

The number of total COVID-19 patients also surged to 105,537 as the health authorities confirmed the detection of 3,243 new cases across the country during the same period.
