Father-son crushed under truck in Sherpur

A man and his 13-year-old son have been crushed to death under a truck when he was going to drop his son at school on his bicycle in Sherpur on Tuesday.

According to police and family sources, the accident took place in front of the sub-registrar office in Nakla upazila around 7:30am as a speeding truck hit the bicycle from behind.

The father -- Hanif Mia, 42, a farmer from Kalapara area of Nakla – died on the spot while the son -- Piyash, a class-5 student – succumbed to his injuries at Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital.

Md Kamrul Hasan, sub-inspector of Nakla police station, said they seized the truck but its driver managed to flee.
