Virus cases in Chattogram rises to 13,348

A total of 148 more people has been detected positive for coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours after testing 1,048 samples at five COVID-19 laboratories in Chattogram district.

Among the newly detected patients, 116 are from Chattogram city and 32 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

The total number of infected patients now stands at 13,348 in the district, Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told news agency BSS on Thursday.

A total of 1,687 people were released from different hospitals after recovery from COVID-19 infection till today, he said.

Rabbi said 22 new patients were diagnosed with the coronavirus at BITID, Chattogram after testing 370 samples in the last 24 hours.

Another 39 were tested positive at Chattogram Medical College and Hospital after testing 161 samples during the same period.

“Besides, 29 new COVID-19 patients were identified at Chattogram University after testing 141 samples in the last 24 hours while seven more patients were diagnosed with the disease at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Science University after testing 186 samples during the same time,” the civil surgeon said.

“On the other hand, 27 more patients were diagnosed with the disease at Private Chevron Lab, Chattogram after testing 100 samples while a total of 22 people were tested positive for coronavirus after testing 111 samples at Imperial hospital, during the same time,” he added.

Two persons of Lohagara upazila of the district were tested positive for coronavirus after testing nine samples at Cox’s Bazar Medical College Hospital, Rabbi added.
