Woman in Sylhet hospital isolation dies
A 61-year-old woman kept in isolation at Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmad Hospital in Sylhet has died.
She recently returned from the United Kingdom.
The death was confirmed by Himangshu Lal Roy, deputy director of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, on Sunday.
He said the woman was admitted to the hospital after suffering from fever, cough and breathing complications for 10 days. She was kept in isolation at the hospital where she died around 4:00am, he said.
The isolation unit was set up at the hospital for treating coronavirus patients.
Representatives of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) were scheduled to come to Sylhet today (Sunday) to collect samples for the woman's diagnosis, but she died before that, Hiralal said adding that samples would still be collected for diagnosis.
So far, 24 coronavirus infected people have been detected in Bangladesh among whom two have died, according to the IEDCR.
