Man dies of coronavirus, Moulvibazar village locked down

A man who died of fever and cough in Moulvibazar on Saturday morning was found to have been infected with coronavirus.

The 45 year-old-man was resident of Rajnagar upazila of the district.

The health department sent his samples to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) for testing as he had symptoms of having the novel coronavirus. His family members were then asked to remain under home quarantine.

Civil surgeon of Moulvibazar Tauhid Ahmed said the deceased was tested positive on Sunday.

“Wife of the deceased tested negative. We'll test some other neighbors. There’re expatriates in the locality,” the civil surgeon added.

The man had been suffering from breathing problem two days before death.

Local administration has locked down the village of the deceased and some parts of four-five neighboring villages at around 9:00pm Sunday, officer-in-charge of Rajnagar Abdul Hashim told Prothom Alo.

The authorities asked the villagers to stay home and further steps will be taken on Sunday, the OC added.
