Manikganj village under lockdown

The local administration put Baraichhara village of Harirampur upazila in Manikganj under lockdown on Sunday afternoon following the death of a woman with symptoms of Covid-19, reports UNB.

SM Moniruzzaman, deputy director of Monno Medical College and Hospital, said they found the woman dead after she was taken to the hospital from her village.

"She had been suffering from high fever, cough and respiratory problems," he said.

Upazila nirbahi officer Sabina Yasmin said they put the village under lockdown as the woman died showing symptoms of coronavirus.

Civil surgeon Anwarul Amin Akhand said they send samples of the deceased to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) in Dhaka for test.

He also said doctors, nurses and other staff who came in contact with the deceased were asked to maintain home-quarantine.

Deputy commissioner SM Ferdous said the village will remain under lockdown until the IEDCR discloses the test report.
