Eid-e-Miladunnabi, the day of birth and demise of prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM), will be observed in the country on 9 October (Sunday) as the Rabiul Awal month of the Hizri calendar will begin Wednesday since the moon was not sighted in Bangladesh sky on Monday.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Islamic Foundation's Baitul Mukarram office with religion affairs ministry secretary Md Munim Hasan in the chair, said a press release of the Islamic Foundation on Monday.

On this day in 570 Hizri, the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar, Muhammad (pbuh) was born in Makkah of Saudi Arabia with divine blessings and messages of peace for mankind. He also passed away on the same day.
