National Professor and former adviser to caretaker government Jamilur Reza Chowdhury

National professor and former adviser to a caretaker government Jamilur Reza Choudhury has died.

He died early Tuesday, said Shibli Rubayat-ul Islam, dean of Dhaka University’s Faculty of Business Studies and also Jamilur Reza’s relative.

He was 77 and from Sylhet.

“Last night, he was sleeping at his Dhanmondi residence. During sehri, his wife called him but he did not respond. He was then taken to the city's Square Hospital where physicians declared him dead. They said, he had died before he was brought to the hospital,” Shibli said.

Jamilur Reza Choudhury was a renowned civil engineer, educationist and researcher. He was the current vice chancellor of University of Asia Pacific.

His namaj-e-janaza would be held at Banani graveyard after Juhr prayer, Shibli added.
