Shyamal Kanti shifted to DMCH

Humiliated Narayanganj school headmaster Shyamal Kanti Bhakta was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for better medical treatment on Friday.

Following an application from his wife, the authorities of the Narayanganj 300-bed Hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment for several days, sent Shyamal Kandi to the DMCH.

Narayanganj hospital warden's personal assistant, Siddikur Rahman, said on Thursday night, wife of Shyamal Kanti, submitted an application to the hospital authorities for shifting him to Dhaka for better treatment. “Later we sent him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital,” he added.

Shyamal Kanti was admitted to the Narayanganj hospital after local MP AKM Salim Osman slapped him and forced him to do sit-ups holding ears in public.

Following the incident, on 17 May, the school authorities suspended Shyamal Kanti.

On 19 May, education ministry reinstated him as the headteacher and dismantled the school committee.
