Tk 2m bounty each for Tamim Chy, Major Zia

The inspector general of the police on Tuesday announced Tk 20 lakh bounty each for capturing two militant suspects -- Canadian immigrant Tamim Chowdhury and retired army officer major Zia.

IGP Shahidul Haque made the announcement calling them as masterminds of the attacks on Holey Artisan restaurant in Gulshan and the Sholakia Eid congregation in July.

Maj Zia remained fugitive since 2012 when the Bangladesh Army accused him and a few others of plotting a military coup in the country.

However, about former North South University teacher Hasnat Karim, the IGP said the police has ‘knowledge’ of whereabouts of Hasnat.

He was detained by detective police after the Holey Artisan attack incident.
