Hours after announced as office bearers of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Mosaddek Ali Falu has resigned as vice chairman.
Meanwhile, newly appointed assistant publicity secretary Shamimur Rahman Shamim, who was one of the assistant office secretaries in the previous committee, has sought withdrawal of his name from the committee.
At a press conference at the party’s Naya Paltan central office Saturday morning, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the names of the party’s 502-strong national executive committee and 73-strong advisory council of the party chairperson.
Also the chairman of private television channel NTV, Falu who is currently staying outside the country for medical purposes, resigned from the post citing personal reasons.
A letter was also sent to the BNP central office in this regard.
BNP assistant office secretary Taiful Islam told Prothom Alo that he was not aware of any such letter.
Falu was selected as BNP chairperson’s adviser in the party’s old committee.
Shamim was Number 2 out of three assistant office secretaries which are a few ranks higher than the assistant publicity secretary.
Party officials said Shamim has sought the withdrawal out of his anger as he was demoted in the new committee.
