
Police on Sunday submitted a probe report before the High Court stating Salim Osman, member of parliament from Narayanganj, had no involvement in the incident of humiliating Shyamal Kanti Bhakta, headmaster of a local school.
The report cited both Shyamal Kanti and Salim Osman as victims of circumstances in the incident of forcing the teacher to do sit-ups holding his ears in public.
The HC said the mastermind in the humiliation incident should have been identified. An HC bench of justice Moinul Islam Chowdhury and justice Ashish Ranjan Das fixed 10 August for passing its order in this regard.
According to the police report, Shyamal Kanti said during an interrogation that he and MP Salim Osman were both victims of the circumstances.
He neither blamed anyone for the incident nor filed any complaint against anyone with court or police in this connection, the report read.
However, a lawyer of Ain O Salish Kendra said Shyamal Kanti did not record any statement.

On 13 May, locals beat Shyamal Kanti Bhakta, headmaster of Piyar Sattar Latif High School in Bandar area of Narayanganj, for allegedly hurting religious sentiment.
At one stage, local MP Salim Osman allegedly forced him to do sit-ups holding his ears.
On 9 June, the HC ordered the superintendent of police of Narayanganj and officer-in-charge of Bandar police station to submit probe reports in detail by 4 August, fixing 7 August for further hearing.
