Derailment cuts rail link with Ctg

Train communication of Chittagong with the rest of the country, including the capital, remained snapped following the derailment of an intercity train at Pahartali Railway Station in the city on Wednesday afternoon.
Officer-in-charge of Pahartali Police Station Ranjit Kumar Barua said three rear bogies of Dhaka-bound ‘Mahanagar Godhuli’ from Chittagong veered off the tracks around 3:30 pm, halting the train communication on different routes, including Chittagong-Dhaka and Chittagong-Sylhet, reports news agency UNB.
Contacted, General Manager (West Zone) of Bangladesh Railway Abdul Hai said a rescue rain rushed in to salvage the derailed bogies.
A probe panel will also be formed to look into the accident, he added.
