Prime minister Sheikh Hasina has ridiculed BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia for offering her forgiveness, claiming she has no fault.

"She should rather seek apology to the countrymen for her crimes," Hasina said at a press conference at her official Ganabhaban residence on Thursday.

"Why should I seek apology from her? What is my fault?" she said in reponse to a question on Khaleda Zia's statement in the court that she had forgiven Hasina.

Also president of ruling Bangladesh Awami League, Hasina blamed the former prime minister, Khaleda Zia, for the 21 August grenade attack, and killings of SAMS Kibria and Ahsanullah Master.

When her attention was drawn to naming of Khaleda Zia in reports of siphoning off money, premier Hasina criticised the Bangladesh media for not reporting on the BNP chairperson and her associates.

"Why are you silent and what's the mystery behind this? Have you received any cheque for shopping?" the AL chief added.
