Terming the enforcement of transport strike ‘sad’, law minister Anisul Huq on Tuesday asked the workers to take the matter up with the court.

The minister was speaking at a news briefing at his secretariat office in Dhaka following the verdict on Japanese citizen Kunio Hoshi murder.

He lauded the verdict as a speedily resolved murder case in the legal history of Bangladesh.

Transport workers have been enforcing strike in the southwestern region for past few days protesting against sentencing a driver life-term in a road accident case.

Answering a question whether the strike is tantamount to contempt of court, Anisul Huq said it is up to the court.

“I want to tell them (the workers): Don’t cause sufferings to the people, take up your grievances with the court. Your points will be considered if found reasonable, otherwise not,” he added.
