Police cordon off suspected militant hideout

Police cordoned off a residential building in Shibbari area under South Surma police station of Sylhet city, suspecting it to be a militant hideout.

The law enforcement launched the drive at 2:30am on Friday. Suspected militants are on the ground floor of the five-storey building, police assume.

A hand grenade was hurled at police from the house around 4:00am, police claimed. Law enforcement also fired blank in retaliation.

Other inmates of the building have been asked to stay inside their flats keeping the doors and windows shut.

RAB and other law enforcement agencies are also there to assist the police.
