A Bangladeshi national was shot dead by the members of Border Security Force (BSF) of India along Daikhawa border in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat district early on Saturday.

The deceased is Shafikul Islam, 22, son of a certain Jainal Abedin, hailing from Amjhol village of the upazila, reports UNB.

BSF members of 100-Paglibari camp opened fire on a group of cattle traders when they went to bring cows through the border around 4:00am, leaving Shafikul dead on the spot, said BGB Battalion Lalmonirhat-15 director lieutenant colonel Golam Morshed.
