UPDF man shot dead in Khagrachhari

KhagrachhariAn activist of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF), the Chittagong Hill Tracts-based political party, was gunned down by unidentified miscreants in Alutila area of Matiranga upazila in Khagrachhari on Thursday, reports UNB.

The deceased is Gyanendu Chakma, 40, activist of UPDF district unit.

Organizer of UPDF district unit Michael Chakma claimed a group of armed motorcyclists carried out the attack around 5pm and fled the scene immediately. Gyanendu was staying in Alutila for some organizational duties related to his role in the party, Michael added.

On information, police recovered the bullet-hit body from the spot and sent it to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital for autopsy, said Md Zakir Hossain, OC of Matiranga police station.
