President offers Eid prayers at National Eidgah
President Abdul Hamid offered his Eid-ul-Azha prayers at the National Eidgah at Dhaka on Wednesday.
The Eid congregation was held at 8:00am under the auspices of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), reports UNB.
On his arrival at the Eidgah adjacent to the High Court, Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon received the president.
Senior pesh imam of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Mufti Maulana Muhammad Ehsanul Huq conducted the Eid prayers.
Cabinet members, judges of the Supreme Court, lawmakers, senior political leaders and high civil and military officials joined the Eid congregation.
A special munajat was offered seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of Bangladesh and welfare of the people as well as the Muslim Ummah, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members who were brutally assassinated on the fateful night of 15 August 1975 and for the people who embraced martyrdom on various occasions for the sake of the country and establishing democracy.
President Hamid exchanged Eid greetings with the devotees after the prayers.
