Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said his party is in favour of using the electronic voting machines (EVMs) in the parliament elections to be held in December.

Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said this while talking to newsmen while inspecting Dhaka-Mymenshingh highway in Vogra area of Gazipur on Thursday.

He said the ruling party will accept the decision of the Election Commission (EC) in this regard.

Meanwhile, the election commission on Thursday finalised a proposal for amendment to a relevant law to pave the way for use of electronic voting machines (EVMs) in the national elections pending in December.

Quader also warned of taking stern action against any political party that will try to create anarchy by boycotting the upcoming national elections.

Dwelling on the street agitation by the opposition parties, the minister said the government will give a befitting reply if any party tries to create anarchy in the name of demonstration.
