Passengers welfare association secy gen arrested

The police arrested Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity (Bangladesh Passengers Welfare Association) secretary general Mozammel Haque from his Mirpur residence in the capital early Thursday.

He was arrested around 3:00am in an extortion case, said the police.

Mirpur police station sub-inspector (SI) Reazul Islam told Prothom Alo that Mozammel Haque was taken to the police station after the arrest.

A certain Dulal filed the extortion case against the Jatri Kalyan Samity secretary general, the SI added.

Reazul also said police will produce Mozammel Haque before the court and then seek remand for interrogation.
