Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said law enforcers arrested the 12 students from Tajkunipara on Sunday.

They were accused in two cases filed with Tejgaon Industrial Police Station over attacking police and spreading rumour over the recent student movement, he said.

Police said miscreants chanted anti-government slogans and attacked police in front of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology in Tejgaon on 6 August.

However, families of the students on Sunday alleged that Detective Branch of police picked them up from Tejgaon area on Wednesday last.
