Reported gunfight kills 1

A man was killed in a reported gunfight between two alleged groups of drug traders in Boluhar Dakattola Math area of Kotchandpur upazila in Jhenaidah district early Sunday.

Deceased Selim, 42, son of a certain Nur Islam of Kashipur area of the upazila was a drug trader, police claimed, reports UNB.

Being informed about a gunfight between two groups of drug traders, a team of police went to the spot, said Kotchandpur police station officer-in-charge Biplob Kumar Saha.

Later, police found the bullet-hit body of Selim, he added.

Policemen also recovered a one shooter gun, two round bullets, 40 bottles of phensedyl, 300 yaba tablets, four mobile sets and a private car from the scene, OC Biplob Saha added.

The law enforcement’s version of the event, however, could not be verified independently as no version of the incident was available immediately either from any witness or from the victim’s family.
