Children of freedom fighters stage demo again

Children and grandchildren of freedom fighters on Sunday demanded the reinstatement of 30 per cent quota privilege for them in government jobs, reports UNB.

They made the demand from a rally held at the Central Shaheed Minar under the banner of ‘Muktijuddha Mancha’.

Spokesperson of the platform and DU sociology department teacher Prof AKM Jamal Uddin said, “We had never thought that such kind of gazette could be published. We think the decision scrapping the freedom fighters’ quota was a conspiracy of the anti-liberation war forces.”

Rejecting the gazette notification abolishing the quota system for the first class and second class jobs in public service, he blamed a vested quarter who is against the liberation war spirit for it.

The demonstrators also vowed to go on a tougher movement if their demand is not met.

They announced to hold a rally and take position at Shahbagh on 25 October and give a memorandum to the prime minister on 30 October.
