3 arrested for ‘gang-raping’ SSC examinee

Police on Wednesday arrested three people for allegedly gang-raping a female Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinee in Dhanbari upazila of the district.

The arrestees are Abdur Rahman, Majharul Haque and Jalu Miah of the upazila.

They were arrested from different areas of the upazila, said officer-in-charge of Dhanbari police station, Mojibur Rahman.

He said the trio called the victim to a house at Lichubagan of Nawabbari on 27 October promising to give her suggestions of SSC examination.

When the victim went there, they confined her and raped her throughout the night.

The victim’s father filed a case with Dhanbari police station in this regard on Wednesday.

The victim was sent to Tangail Medical College Hospital for treatment.
