Bullet-ridden body of ‘drug trader’ found in Teknaf

Police recovered bullet-hit body of a person from Borodel of Marine Drive road in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Friday morning.

Deceased Mohammad Belal, 35, son Nur Mohammad from Wakia Para in Hnila union of the upazila, is a drug peddler, claimed police.

The law enforcement said Nur Mohammad was an accused in a case filed with Teknaf police station.

On information of local people, policemen recovered the body from the area around 7:30am, said Teknaf model police station officer-in-charge Pradip Kumar Das.

The man might have been killed in a fight over establishing supremacy in the area or over trading yaba pills, police said.

Locals said they heard 15-20 gunshots in the area around 1:30am.

The body will be sent to the Cox’s Bazar sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy.

OC Pradip said a total of 10 yaba traders were killed in gunfights among themselves and with police in various areas of Teknaf upazila in the last three weeks.

The law enforcement recovered 90,000 yaba pills, 20 arms and 102 rounds of bullets in the time, he added.
