A joint force of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police recovered shrouded body of a minor boy from a residence near the Link Road of Banglamotor intersection in the capital on Wednesday morning.

The minor is Nur safayet, around two-and-a-half year-old son of a certain Nuruzzaman Kazal of the area.

Earlier in the morning, being informed that a man has kept two of his sons as hostage, a joint team of RAB, police, Ansar and fire service men cordoned off the house opposite to Khodeza Khatun Govt Primary School.

“I’d entered the house and saw the father of the child and a clergy sitting. The shrouded body was kept on a table,” RAB-2 sub-inspector Shahidul Islam told newsmen.

“Turning down our approach to help him, the child’s father said, I don’t need your help. Why have you come? Go away. I’ll bury my son at Azimpur graveyard in the afternoon,” he added.

Shahbagh police station officer-in-charge Abul Hasan said the deceased child’s father Nuruzzaman Kazal was arrested for taking drugs and sent to jail.

Local people said Kazal used to live with his two sons and wife on the second floor of the building. His wife left the home around a month ago since she could not bear the torture.

Kazal’s brother Nurul Huda Uzzal told Prothom Alo that Kazal went to a madrasa by their home around 7:30am and told them that his son Nuru Safayet died of electrocution.

“He requested the madrasa authorities to announce the death and wanted some madrasa students to take with him for reciting verses from the holy Quran. Hearing this a clergy of the Madrasa Abdul Gaffar went to his house,” he added.

Uzzal said he tried to enter the house but Kazal did not allow him.

Alleging that Kazal killed Nur Safayet, he said Kazal’s elder son Surayet, 4, is still with him.

Kazal had a machete with him, added Uzzal.
