EC asks home ministry to withdraw KMP commissioner

The election commission has decided to withdraw Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) commissioner Md Humayun Kabir ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections slated for 30 December.

The EC on Friday sent a letter to the home ministry in this regard, EC joint secretary Farhad Ahammad Khan confirmed news agency UNB.

On 28 November, the commission removed Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Anisur Rahman after the Bangladesh Nationalist Party placed demand for his transfer.

Later, the home ministry appointed Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) deputy commissioner Harun-Ur-Rashid as Narayanganj SP after getting EC’s clearance.
