Student ‘kills self' as he fails to stand first

A tenth grade student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree after being failed to secure first position in the final examination in Jhikargaccha upazila of Jashore on Thursday.

The deceased is Rimon Reza Emon, 15, a student of Matikumra High School and son of a certain Hasanuzzaman of the village, reports UNB.

Mezbah Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Bakra police camp in the upazila said Emon was the first boy of his class and he maintained his first position from first to ninth grade.

Family sources said Emon got his final examination results in the afternoon and broke down in tears as he stood second in the examination.

Later, he went out of his house around 2:30pm. After sometime, he was found hanging from a tree in a mango orchard, owned by one Lutfur Rahman.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to local hospital morgue for autopsy.

A case was filed with Jhikargaccha police station.
