BNP candidate Ukil Abdul Sattar Bhuiyan has unofficially been declared elected in Brahmanbaria-2 constituency, reports UNB.

Ukil Abdul Sattar bagged 83,997 votes while his nearest rival independent contender Moyeen Uddin Moyeen polled 75,419, said retuning office and deputy commissioner of the district Hayat Ud-dola Khan on Wednesday evening after re-voting in three centres, where voting was postponed on 30 December due to various irregularities.

Earlier, the re-balloting in the three centres -- Jatrapur Govt Primary School, Bahadurpur Govt Primary School and Sohagpur Dakkhin Govt Primary School -- started at 8:00am and continued till 4:00pm.

On 30 December, the announcement of the results was postponed as the number of votes in the three centres was higher than the difference between the two leading candidates' tallies.

Abdus Sattar had taken a lead of 10,159 in 129 centres bagging 82,723 votes against Moyeen's 72,564 while the number of voters in the three centres was 10,574.
