Road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader on Friday termed the Jatiya Oikya Front's demand for a fresh national election ‘just ridiculous.’

The AL leader also said democratic countries across the globe, even Pakistan, have recognised the elections.

"In such a situation, Oikya Front's demand for fresh polls is just ridiculous," he added.

The minister came up with the remarks while visiting Dhaka-Tangail Highway at Chandra in the Gazipur district, reports UNB.

Talking about the Front's demand, Obaidul further said, "It's ridiculous to even raise questions about the 11th parliamentary election which received global recognition."

He urged the Oikya Front to come to parliament to talk about their demands.

During his visit, Obaidul Quader ordered the authorities concerned to remove all the illegal establishments along roads and highways across the country within a week.
