Teacher 'rapes' 5th grader in schoolroom

A schoolteacher has allegedly raped a fifth grader girl inside the classroom of a government primary school in Syedpur upazila of Nilphamari.

The teacher of the school, according to the victim’s mother, on Wednesday took the girl to a classroom when she was playing in the playground of the school and raped her.

The family of the girl alleged that they are now being forced to settle the matter.

When the family informed the school’s headmaster of the incident, he tried to pursue them to resolve the matter.

The victim’s mother also alleged that the headmaster even threatened her when she was trying to inform the matter to the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO).

Asked about the matter, upazila education officer Shahjahan Mandal said that they will take departmental action against the teacher following investigation if the victim’s family makes any complaint.

UNO SM Golam Kibria said they will take legal action upon the complaint.
