Quader still in critical condition: Physician

Physicians at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Sunday said minister Obaidul Quader's health condition is improving slightly but his is not stable yet, reports UNB.

"We're optimistic about the recovery of Obaidul Quader but he's not out of danger. It's a matter of time," said BSMMU cardiology department chairman professor Syed Ali Ahsan while at a press briefing at the BSMMU in the afternoon.

"Quader is blinking his eyes and trying to talk to others. If his condition remains stable, we'll go for a bypass surgery. He's now in a critical condition," said Syed Ali Ahsan at the briefing.

BSMMU vice chancellor professor Kanak Kanti Barua said, "Quader is responding to others."

Replying to a question, Kanak Kanti, said, "Prime minister Sheikh Hasina told them that the ailing minister will be taken abroad for better treatment with the consent of the physicians."

Asked about the arrival of a Singapore medical team, the BSMMU VC said, "It'll be monitored by the Prime Minister's Office. We'll allow Quader to take him to Singapore if we see there is adequate manpower and expertise in the team."

BSMMU director Abdullah Al Harun and some other physicians of the hospital were present at the press briefing.

Earlier, president Abdul Hamid and prime minister Sheikh Hasina visited the ailing minister at the BSMMU.

Obaidul Quader, also general secretary of Awami League, was admitted to the CCU of BSMMU in the morning following his breathing complications.
