4 detained with 700 gold bars

Police in separate drives arrested four people along with 700 gold bars from different parts of the city and in Mirsarai upazila of Chattogram on Sunday, reports UNB.

Masiuddoula Reza, additional superintendent (north) of Chattogram police, said tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive at Shonapahar in Jorarganj of Mirsarai upazila around 4:45pm and recovered 600 gold bars worth Tk 265 million from a car.

Police also arrested two people in this connection.

The arrestees are Karim Shah, 38 of Jashore and Rakib, 26 of Chuadanga district.

In another incident, detectives in a drive arrested two people and recovered 100 gold bars worth Tk 445 million from a car in CRB area in the port city on Sunday.

The arrestees are Proloy Kumar Saha, 59, of Narayanganj district and Billal Hossain alias Quader, 28, of Shariatpur district.

Tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested them along with the gold bars, said Mirza Sayem Mahmud, additional deputy commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police.
