Two men were reportedly hacked to death in separate incidents in Habiganj and Jashore on Saturday afternoon, UNB says.

In Habiganj, an expatriate was hacked to death allegedly by his neighbours following an altercation between two children of the families at Sadekpur village in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj on Saturday afternoon, UNB reports.

The deceased is Lal Shah, 35, a Maldives expatriate and a resident of the village.

Two children of Jabed Ali and Lal Shah locked into an altercation while playing togather, UNB reports Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Chanurughat police station, as saying quoting the locals.

As a sequel of this incident, Jabed's family members carried out an attack on Lal and other members of his family with sharp weapons. At one stage, they hacked Lal, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was taken to sadar hospital where physicians declared him dead.

Meanwhile, police arrested six people including Jabed Ali in this connection, the OC added.

In Jashore, a man was hacked to death allegedly by his rival over chopping down a tree at Sonatola village in Abhaynagar upazila on Saturday noon, UNB says.
The deceased is Abdus Salam, son of late Ranga Mia and a member of Shiddipasha Union unit Awami League.

Sub-inspector Al-Amin of Sonatola police outpost said Salam locked into an altercation with two of his neighbouring siblings--Asad and Habibur—over felling down a tree.

At one stage, the two brothers started hacking Salam with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured. When Salam's elder brother tried to save him, he also sustained injury.

Later, locals caught Habibur and handed him over to police after. However, Asad managed to flee the scene, said witnesses.

Meanwhile, Salam was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 3:00pm.

On information, police arrested Habibur and admitted to a local hospital under custody, UNB quoted Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Abhaynagar police station, as saying.
